Show Funeral Rites Held Wed. For J. E. Hardman Relatives and friends from and near 'gathered Wednesday afternoon after-noon at the Second Ward Chapel, to pay final tributes of respect to the memory of James Edward Hardman and express love and sympathy for his family. The impressive services began at 1 p.m. with Dan W. Peterson, of the Second Ward Bishopric conducting. Processional music was played by Howard and Mary Nelson and their daughter Judy. Invocation was offered by Bishop E. M. Williams. Will-iams. A vocal solo "Teach Me To Pray" was sung by Gene Nelson of Provo, accompanied by Mrs. K. Adams. Speakers were Lawrence M. At-wood, At-wood, a boyhood friend of Mr. Hardman, who reminesced of early days in Manila; Reed O. Walker life-long neighbor and friend of the Hardman family, who recalled pleasant memories of childhood days with the Hardman children. Here followed a vocal number by a mixed quartette, Mrs. Eugene W. Allred, Mrs. S. W. Hilton, Ford M. Paulson and Elwood Allen. They were accompanied by Mrs. J. Howard How-ard Nelson. They sang "Beyond The Sunset." Leo P. Harvey, representing the Pleasant Grove Irrigation Company, Com-pany, paid high tribute to Mr. Hardman for faithful and untiring efforts as watermaster of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove for more than 30 years. Paul Christofferson, formerly of the Bishopric also told of the fine traits and helpful support of the family in church and civic affairs and man working out his salvation. salvat-ion. After closing remarks of sympathy sym-pathy and appreciation by Counselor Coun-selor Dan Peterson, Mr. Nelson accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Adams sang the final number, "The Lord's Prayer". Benediction was pronounced by J. Reed Peterson. Interment was made in the PI. Grove City Cemetery, directed by Olpin Mortuary. Dedicatory prayer was offered by Guy G. Sundburg. Flowers were cared for and arranged ar-ranged by Pleasant Grove Second Ward Relief Society. Mr. Hardman, died at his residence resi-dence here Monday at 1 a.m. after a six-month illness. He suffered a stroke. He was bom in Salt Lake City, Jan. 29, 1883, a son of Abraham W. and Martha Walter Hardman. He married Floris Adamson. She died in 1015. He married Stella Sunberg Nov. 10, 1916, in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had been employed by Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove City 30 years. He served ser-ved as marshal, road supervisor and was matermaster at the time he became ill. He was chairman of the old folks committee 40 years. He was a High Priest in the Timpanogos Stake. Survivors include his widow; the following sons and daughters: Harold and Guy Hardman, Mrs. Viola Beers, Mrs. Mae Robinson, Mrs. Hazel Bullock, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Ilia Johnson, Bountiful; Bounti-ful; 16 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Aston and Mrs. Joseph Thompson, both of Salt Lake City. |
