Show Local Items Mrs. R. E. Uoui.li and daughter, Mrs. Tirkui Norton who is visiting hf;re from Los Angeles, California, will spend the remainder of the week in Salt Lake City, visiting with Mrs. I. R. Morrison. Bishop and Mrs. Cortez Christensen and son, Barlow, of Goshen, Idaho, were guests of Mrs. Chris tenscn's sister, Mrs. Thomas Friday, over the week-end. Accompanied by the Fridays, they went on a sight-seeing trip to the southern part of the state, as far as Gunnison. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Sweeten and oilier relatives here. Mrs. Cora A. Huggard has returned re-turned from a trip to California, where she has been visiting in San Francisco and Richmond with friends and three nieces, daughters of Alma Greenwood, Mrs. Edith Michler, Mrs. Margarette Shell and Mrs. Beth Fredrutis. Jensen, president pres-ident of the Ladies Literary club Miss Betha Storrs, president of the Junior Literary League; and Mrs David Cahn, president of the Ar-litera Ar-litera Guild. American Fork was honored with a request to take part in the program. pro-gram. The club trio of the Junior I Literary League, Mrs. Doris Robinson, Robin-son, Mrs. Leah Greene, and Miss Betha Storrs, will sing the songs written by Mrs. Greene, which won first and second place in competition compe-tition at the state convention last year. These are the "Jubilee Song," words of which were written by Mi's. Joseph Nicholes; and "Holding the Torch of Progress," with words by Mrs. Merling D. Clyde. Mrs. Greene, Mrs. Nicholes and Mrs. Clyde have been extended invitations to be guests at .the Presidents' Conference. Mrs. A. B. Allen will entertain the Sorosis club, at a three o'clock social today (Friday). Mr. and Mi's. Edwin Searl and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Searle of Bur-ley, Bur-ley, Idaho, visited over the weekend week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Searle. Thirteen couples from American Fork enjoyed a nine o'clock dinner dance, at the Coon Chicken Inn at Salt Lake City, Saturday evening. eve-ning. Miss Maxine Hawkins, daughter of Mrs. Marcelle Hawkins of this city, has entered training as a nurse at the Holy Cross hospital in Salt Lake City, She is stationed temporarily at St. Mary's of the Wasatch. Mrs. Walter Steffin entertained members of the Soiree Bridge club Thursday night at the Bromley club rooms. A delicious hot buffet supper was served in the dining room, which was decorated with beautiful fall flowers. Bridge was the diversion of the evening, Mrs. Clyde Birk winning high score prize, Mrs. Floyd Loveridge the cut prize, and Mrs. Glen Gordon, consolation. con-solation.
