Show o Genealogical Programs Given In Wards Here J. L. Adams, chairman of the First ward genealogical committee, was in charge of the services Sunday evening. eve-ning. Music, which was under the direction of Irwin Jensen, included a special quartet by Joseph Day, Karl Banks, Irwin Jensen, and Rulon Ru-lon Brimhall. The speakers were Estelle Fenton, Vern Cullimore, and Eva Adams. Miss Fenton read a selection from the writings of Joseph Smith, telling tell-ing of the need for haste in the genealogical work. The theme of Vern Cullimore's remarks was that this is a day of the fulfilment of prophesy, and he told how the gospel gos-pel and priesthood had both been restored and reminded of the many blessings that have been promised upon obedience to God's commandments. command-ments. Mrs. Eva Adams expressed the thought that marriage is fundamental fundamen-tal in the gaining of eternal salvation, salva-tion, and that the family relationship relation-ship was intended to be eternal. The invocation was offered by Heber Gardiner, and the benediction benedic-tion by Duane Harper. In the Third ward the program directed by chairman Wilford Neves, included the following numbers in addition to appropriate congregational congrega-tional singing led by Mrs. Mary Neves: A scriptural reading from the writings of Joseph Smith emphasizing emphasiz-ing the need for promptness in attending at-tending to temple work, given by Mrs. Josie Walker. Neils Fugal told the circumstances which attended the appearance of the Angel Moroni to Joseph Smith, and reviewed the importance which the latter attached attach-ed to temple work, as evidenced by the building of the Mormon temples. Fulfillment of prophesies was the subject of the address given by Harold M. Wright of the stake presidency. pres-idency. He showed how the ancient prophecies quoted by Angel Moroni to Joseph Smith have nearly all been fulfilled with resultant turning of the hearts of the children to the fathers, and the establishment of genealogical societies and libraries all over the country. Mrs. Stena Christensen emphasized empha-sized the importance of sealing families fam-ilies together in the many cases where for various reasons the marriage mar-riage was not performed in the temple. The necessity of searching for records of dead relatives and performing per-forming the ordinances for them was stressed by Clarence Hilton in his talk. The invocation and benediction were offered by Allen Pederson and Matilda Christiansen. William C. Smith was the speaker speak-er at the genealogical services in the Manila ward Sunday evening, according to John Roundy, chairman. chair-man. Also. Dean Cobbley of Lindon gave a talk. The subject chosen by Mr. Smith was temple marriage, and an interesting inter-esting feature of which was his contrast con-trast of a civil marriage with one performed in the temple.
