Show Birthday of P. G. Is Celebrated The local camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioners celebrated the birthday of Pleasant Grove on Friday, Fri-day, at the Relic Hall. Captain Pearl K. West was in charge and conducted the program. Chorister Cleone L. Kirk led the congregation in singing "The Star Spangled Banner, with Organist Vilate A. West accompaist. Prayer was offered my Mrs. Inez R. Olpin; The secretary's report was made by Mrs. Gladys Hilton, secretary, and the welcome address by Class Leader Mrs. Lucille H. Walker. This was followed by a vocal duet, "Silverhaired Daddy of Mine" by Dorothy and Joy Phillips, Miss Carol Christiansen gave two readings, read-ings, "Ma and Her Checkbook," and "Ma Wants Somethig New." Guest speaker was Prof. John C. Swenson of Provo, who told many incidents of his early life in pion eer days in Pleasant Grove, and how he first attended school in the same room in which ho was speaking that day, and mentioned many of the early day educational activities of the community. Other musical numbers were: a piano solo by Miss Carol Dawn Warnick and another vocal duet by the Phillips Sisters. ' mii'ii A short talk was given by Mrs. Edith Powell, County Captain. Captain Cap-tain Pearl West read a tribute to the Utah Pioneers. Closing remarks re-marks were made by Mrs. Rose B. Hayes, who lok the lead in organi-znig organi-znig the local camp many years ago. Mrs. Marv Olson and Mrs. Anna Johnson, original pioneers were honored guests, and expressed ap-nreciation ap-nreciation for the work being carried car-ried on.
