Received At Stake Sunday Sun-day School Convention j At the stake Sunday School convention con-vention held Sunday, March 17, in the Alpine Stake Tabernacle, some very interesting subjects were discussed ' and some valuable training and instructions in-structions received. At the 9 o'clock meeting, only the Stake Presidency, the High Council assigned to Sunday School work, bishops and counselors and Sunday School slake board members, were in attendance. Sunt. James M. Grant was in charge. "The Selection of a Ward Superintendent" Super-intendent" by Apostle Steven L. Richards, "Priesthood Classes S'unday Morning" by Mr. Segmiller, a discussion dis-cussion by Mr. Budge and a brief preview of the topics to be discussed at the other meetings by Tracy Y. Cannon, was the substance of this meeting. A meeting of the stake and ward executive officers was held from 10 a. m. to 12 o'clock. The following subjects sub-jects were given at this meeting: "The Practical Operation of the Present Plan of Class Organization'1 by Bishop Joseph H. Storrs; "The Selection, Placement, Transfer and Release of Teachers" by Ross Buck waiter; "What Shall be Done to Create and Maintain Order and Reverence Rev-erence in the Sunday School" by the First ward superintendent, Melvin Grant. General discussions were led by Apostle Richards. Following, this meeting, lunch was served. Special union meeting and general convention was held from 2 until 4 p. m. This meeting was attended by all the officers named above and also the Ward Sunday School teachers. "How the .Leaflet can be most Helpful," "How the Juvenile instructor instruc-tor can be most Helpful," "How the Stake Board can be most Helpful to the Sunday School Teacher when Visiting and in Union Meeting," and "How the Ward Superintendent can be most Helpful to the Sunday School Teacher in the Monthly Reports and Business Meetings" were among the topics discussed. Mr. Budge, Mr. Segmiller and Mr. Cannon made several remarks at the re-assembly. Mr. Cannon played a pipe organ selection, after which Apostle Richards spoke. Musical numbers for this session consisted of an instrumental duet by Leland Priday, violin, and Howard Paxman, piano, a vocal solo by Miss Loraine Boley, accompanied by Miss Helen MofTett and congregational singing "Thanks for ithe Sabbath (School" and 'Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel." Prayers were given by Patriarch W. B. Smith and President J. M. Walker. Due to so short a notice, the afternoon after-noon session was not so well attended attend-ed as the morning meetings. o |
