Show F. F. A. Chapter Participates In State Conclave TWO ARE CANDIDATES FOR HIGH DEGREE OF STATE F.F.A. Future Farmers of America, of the American Fork chapter, this week-end are participating in the state convention of the organization, at the Utah State Agricultural college col-lege at Logan. Under supervision of A. B. Allen, chapter advisor, a large representation representa-tion from the local chapter went by bus to Logan yesterday morning. There they will participate in livestock live-stock judging contests and the convention con-vention sessions. Mr. Allen wDl attend at-tend a special session for vocational agriculture teachers. The American Fork group went in company with the Pleasant Grove and Lehi chapters. The former is under direction of Joseph Day, and the latter under E. B. Garrett. Two American Fork Future Farmers Farm-ers will be candidates for the highest degree the state organization can give that of State Farmer. They are Parker Chipman and Arden Spencer, who have been working toward to-ward the degree for four years. At the convention they will be required to take rigid vocational agriculture examinations, speak at the session, show record books, and conform with other difficult requirements. Delegates to ' the convention are James Beck, president-elect of the chapter for the coming year; and Glen Barratt, secretary-elect. Kenneth Ken-neth Beck, vice-president elect, is the alternate. Teams which will participate in the various judging contests which are a principal feature of the state meet, follow: Livestock judging Jay Myers, Kenneth Beck, Jack Wagstaff; Or-val Or-val Brown, alternate. Crop judging Parker Chipman, James Beck and Arden Spencer. Dairy judging Same as livestock judging team. The chapter also will enter a team in the horseshoe pitching tournament, tourna-ment, a big event at the convention. The team consists of James Beck, (Parker Chipman and Jay Myers. Jack Smith, "farm watch-dog", or sergeant-at-arms of the state FFA, will act in his official capacity at the convention. The judging contests were scheduled sched-uled to start this morning. Regular convention sessions will be held tomorrow. |
