Show 450 Kids Parade In Big Festival Of Primary, Play More than 450 children participated participat-ed in the Primary anniversary parade pa-rade and Recreation story festival here Thursday afternoon of last week. Leading the parade on Main street was a large birthday cake in honor of the "60th Anniversary". The cake was prepared by the Griffin Bakery. Flag bearer of the procession was Greer Devey. He was followed by a children's band and scores of children chil-dren with decorated doll buggies, wagons, bicycles and tricycles, and others with pets. The children had their queen and king for the parade, too. They were Jerry Osborne and Miss Ardith Chipman. In the late afternoon the children gathered at the city hall grounds for the story festival. Mr. McMaines told Buffalo Bill stories; Mrs. Elodia Roberts, Chinese tales: George Scott. Indian stories, and Mrs. Sarah Mon-son. Mon-son. fairy stories. The story-tellers were in appropriate costumes. The children received balloons at the close of the program when they gathered around the anniversary-cake anniversary-cake and sang "Happy Birthday to You". Their interest and fun-making proved the event to be a success. |
