Show o Sunday Union Meeting Proves Especially Enteresting The Stake Priesthood, Relief Society, So-ciety, Primary ami M. I. A. union meeting laid Sunday, Juno 1G, at 2 p. m. in the Alpine Stake Tabernacle v. as mini, enjoyed and proved to be most interesting. Due to the inclement incle-ment weather, as large a crowd as e.-pecli-d was not present, but the 1GG who were in attendance expressed their pleasure at attending the interesting in-teresting meeting. There was no ajournment for class work, the assembly program taking the full time. .President C. E. Young presided. The principal speaker was Oscar A. Kirkham, executive secretary of the M. I. A., who spoke of the responsibilities re-sponsibilities of leadership and gave the following as important factors: 1 Look for the virtues and not the sins. 2. Try to give constructive criticism. 3. Be sure to know where the trouble lies. 4. Give part of yonr-sclf yonr-sclf in your teaching. 5. Give a worthy example. A. Ray Olpin, formerly of Alpine Slake, but now of New York, explained explain-ed briefly his labors in the Bell Telephone Tele-phone laboratories during the past four years. He stated that he had spent most of bis time in the study of light. Scout executive, A. A. Anderson, said that he believed that we receive light in another way than of sight, that, by inspiration. He spoke of the value of scouting from both a man's and a boy's viewpoint. He stated that the combined scouting and camp ing was the answer to the biggest urge in a boy's life, and that it furnished fur-nished opportunities for the developing develop-ing of them. He explained what the boys get while at Camp Timtpanogos in Provo canyon, and urged a good attendance from Alpine Stake during the week given them, July 15 to 20. Those ordained Elders were: Kenneth Ken-neth E. Foster, Edward Lee. David Hunter and L. Stanford Briggs. Music consisted of the congregation congrega-tion singing 'America" and 'Redeemer 'Redeem-er of Israel," a vocal solo by Miss Gertrude Gourley of Pleasant Grove and a vocal solo by Mrs. Elva Chip-man Chip-man Olpin. Travers were given by K. Ray Gardner and President S. L. Chipman. o |
