C, June 15, 1929 The Department of Commerce announces an-nounces that, according to the returns re-turns received, there were 5,844 marriages mar-riages performed in Utah during the year 1928, as compared with 5,717 in 1927, representing an increase of li or 2.2 per cent. In 1916, there were 3,030 marriages performed. During the year 1928, there were 1,013 divorces granted in the state, as compared with 981 in 1927, representing repre-senting an increase of 32 or 3.3 per cent. In 1916, there were 661 divorces di-vorces granted. There were 32 mar- riages annulled in 1928, as compared with 19 in 1927. The estimated population of the State of Utah on July 1, 1928, was 531,000, and on July 1, 1927, 522,000. On the basis of these estimates, the number of marriages per 1,000 of the population was 11.01 in 1928, as against 10.95 in 1927; and the number of divorces per 1,000 of the population popula-tion was 1.93 in 1928, as against 1.88 in 1927. The number of marriages performed perform-ed and the number of divorces and annulments granted were reported by the County Clerk of each County. o |
