Show State Welfare Fund Reduction Reduc-tion Explained By Officials Due to the reduced income of the State Department of Public 'Welfare 'Wel-fare and the necessity to preserve the program -with sufficient vitality to enter the winter months, there have been drastic reductions in the Aid to Dependent Children) Pro-! gram as -well as the Welfare Program. Pro-gram. In order to meet these reduced re-duced allocations, the Social Service Ser-vice Department has found.it necessary neces-sary to Teeommend the reduction of budgetary allocations for coal to the equivalent of one quarter ton per month, and to entirely eliminate allowances al-lowances for clothing. The amount of clothing available will be limited to that -which xan he supplied Jrom the Surplus Commodity Warehouse. This is the clothing that has been made in the sewing centers under oirection of the W P A. At the present time the supply is not . large, and sizes are more or less broken. The reductions indicated above will apply to the Needy 'Blind, Aid to Dependent Children, and Welfare Programs. The last includes both unemployable and employable persons. per-sons. By -"unemployable" is meant persons who are unable to perform manual or mental labor and who do not fit into any of the other .categories- By "employable" is meant persons who are -able to -work but who are unable to find employment. Allocations have "been reduced to such an extent in the Welfare category ca-tegory that aid to employables will be almost entirely eliminated. The foregoing reduction is intended in-tended to prevail for the quarter commencing July 1st and ending September 30th. By that time it is hoped that the different categories in the Social Security and Welfare Programs will be oriented! New Plan for Old Age Assistance Commencing July 1st the new plan for Old Age Assistance becomes be-comes effective. . After that date the Utah County Department of Public Welfare will take applications applica-tions from those who wish to apply. days at the Springville Library; Spanish Fork on Thursdays at the Town Hall; Xehi on Tuesdays at the Memorial Hall; Payson on Wednesdays Wednes-days at the Council! chamber; Provo (South of Main Street) Thursdays Thurs-days at the City and County Building; Build-ing; Provo (North of Main and East of Fifth West) Wednesdays at the City and County Building; Provo (North of Main and West of Fifth West) Wednesdays from 1:00 P. M. until '4:30 rp. M. only at the City and County Building; Santaquin on Thursdays at the City Hall; Orem on Mondays at the Timpanogos Amusement Hall' Goshen on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 10:00 A. 'M. Until 1:00 P. M. at the Goshen Grade School; Pleasant Grove on Tuesdays at the Town Hall. Applications will also be taken at the -general office in the City and Comity Building at Provo from 9:30 A. M. to 4:30 P. M. from Monday to "Friday, inclusive. Release for C, C. C. Enrollment For the month of July the requisition requi-sition for CCC enrollees will be not less than 45, and it is expected to be more. From applications on hand, indications -are that the quota number num-ber will not be reached. Former C C C enrollees who have not been out of camp a. year or more cannot re-enroll. Those who have served two years or more cannot re-enroll at any time. There have been some definite changes in the .eligibility requirements require-ments with respect to age as well as financial status. The age requirement require-ment for the next enrollment will be 17 to 23 years, inclusive. There TVill be two -Classes -with respect to financial status. The preferred group will be youths from W P A families, which group includes those who are certified although not assigned, as-signed, and those receiving Welfare or Social Security Assistance. The next group win he .unemployed youths who are willing to assign to their dependents (i. e. .blood rela- tives or dependents by obligation) not less than $25.00 per month of the $30.00 they win he able to earn in camp. Those who wish to make application applica-tion according to the above standards stand-ards should call at the County Welfare Wel-fare Office in the City and County Building at Provo. Unemployed youths should consider this opportunity, oppor-tunity, especially in the faoe of Welfare Wel-fare and W P A reductions to take effect during July. n i It is well to remember that this is "assistance" and not a "pension." Those who qualify must do so on a basis of need and lack of income. In order to be eligible to receive assistance the applicant must definitely def-initely establish that he has les3 than $360.00 income per year. Whatever What-ever income he has will be deducted deduct-ed from the maximum allowance of $30.00 per month and he will receive the difference. Apparently the average grant per month under the new plan will be larger than at present, but in some instances it will be smaller. Those persons making application should be prepared to give full name, date and place of birth, where they have resided during the past nine years, and other essential information. in-formation. They must further be able to make a complete financial statement with .respect to their incomes in-comes and present holdings. The statement will be in the form of an affidavit and any willful misstatements misstate-ments will carry legal penalties. Ap-! plicants will be asked to furnish j documentary evidence to substan- tiate the information given on the preliminary application as to age, residence, etc. This information will be given to the social worker who will subsequently make a call to the applicant's home to secure the same. Time and effort will be conserved if the information is available. Persons already receiving receiv-ing grants under the Old Age Assistance As-sistance provisions need not reapply at this time. Applications should be made at the following district offices of the Department De-partment of Public Welfare from 10:00 A. M. until 4:30 P.
