Show City Officials Discuss Regular Business Problems The regular meeting of the city council was held Monday evening, June 28th, at the City Kail. Mrs. Guyatt met with the council and asked that a tablet be placed on the monument in the City cemetery to the memory of Alexander Adamson, a Utah veteran of the Indian war. She presented badges and photographs photo-graphs showing that Alexander Adamson was a veteran of the . Indian war. The council authorized the purchase of the lettering for Alexander Adamson and also for Leslie Campbell. The proper letters let-ters to be placed on the monument in the cemetery. Chief Irving L. Pratt read a letter of resignation from Weston Pratt resigning his office as secretary-treasurer secretary-treasurer of the City Volanteer Fire Department. The resignation was accepted and Weston Pratt given an honorable release from this office. Walter B. Devey was selected to fill the vacancy. The matter of shooting of firecrackers fire-crackers in the city was discussed. The matter was finally left with the police department to follow up and they were given the power to act In the matter as they saw fit. The matter of oiling Center street from Main street up to the cemetery ceme-tery was discussed. It was decided that if the State Road Commission appropriated the money work of surfacing the road would be commenced com-menced as soon as possible. A committee com-mittee consisting of the mayor and street committee were to contact the state road commission. City Recreation Leader D. Grant Ingersoll ask the city for funds to purchase trophies for the champions cham-pions in the soft ball series in the city. The city council appropriated a small amount for this purpose. At the suggestion of the mayor William Brooks was appointed as foreman for the Park project. This project will get under way about the middle of July or as soon as W. P. A. funds become available. It was reported that the bridge at the city dump grounds had again been burned out. The recorder was instructed to contact the recorder of Pleasant Grove and find out If that city would sell American Fork some of the concrete pipe which they have on hand. Tills pipe would be used to make a bridge at the city dump grounds. |
