Lott of Lehi, plumbing and heating contractor, has given a prize in Lehi to the local Senior high school student who won first place in the essay contest, which Mr. Lott has been sponsoring. This contest has to do with the modern home, its improved improv-ed health conditions, its conveniences and the safeguards offered by it in preserving the health of the family. This year, however, Mr. Lott was prevailed upon by Mr. Hansen, Junior high school supervisor, to run this contest throughout the Junior high schools of the Alpine District, thus, placing the material for contest work in the hands of approximately 800 children in place of running it as has been the case through the one Senior high school unit. The results obtained in this contest con-test far exceeded the expectations of those who were in charge. There were throughout the district some 700 articles written on various topics, all of which were grouped around home conditions as already expressed. The English department de-partment in turn correlated its work by guaranteeing correct form and construction. Again, there was correlation cor-relation of the typing department, in that the finished product must be handed in in typed form. Friday morning, at 9 o'clock, Mr. Lotfs trophy cup was presented to the American Fork Junior high school,, who were winners over the three other Junior high school teams in the Alpine School District. The three students composing the winning team were, Miss Merline Gardner, La Dean Myers and Crandall Giddings. In a sense these students are double dou-ble winners. Their team was the highest, and first place score was made by Miss Gardner, whose essay follows: Planning For Home "Be it ever so humble there's no place like home," Home may be a mansion or a small neatly kept house.
