Show Pleasant Grove Ms junior High Class ilooins Feeling that the Pleasant Grove school building needs were being posl poned too long a special committee commit-tee composed of the following prominent promi-nent citizens met with the Alpine school board Thursday evening and discussed the needs at our school with these officials. The committee included: in-cluded: M'. S. Christiansen, chairman, President W. W. Warnick, D. B. Thorne, Dr. J. L. Huchel, Principal A. P. Warnick and Mayor F. B. Newman. The board was favorably impressed with our needs and no doubt the best solution to the problem will be made as soon as possible. The present building program of the Alpine school district seems full to capacity with the needs at the four high schools, and we feel sure that they are doing the very best they can with the funds available. Two emergency emer-gency needs, the heating plants at Alpine Al-pine and Lehi have caused the program pro-gram to be tied up to some extent. The two largest projects of the district are an auditorium for the Lincoln high school and class rooms for the Junior high work at the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove high school. Both of these projects are badly needed and it Is hoped that the board will find the funds available to put them over. The labratories of the high school are sufficient to take care of Junior high school students but class rooms are lacking and students cannot be properly prop-erly cared for. i The Junior high school has come to stay and the school board and parents alike recognize this fact. While economy should be the watchword watch-word in school affairs, as well as all other affairs, our board members should know when econamy is standing stand-ing in the way of our school's and our town's progress, and fall in line with the other members to do the very best that can be done with, funds' available. Our present grade school building are all needed for the grades to the sixth so that children will be able to go to school all day in place of half day sessions in the lower grades. Every parent knows how hard it is to send children to school in the afternoon in place of at 9 a. m. and too, children learn better in the morning morn-ing than in the afternoon hours. The centralizing of the schools at the grade school building has made closer grading possible, but the added children child-ren has crowded the Central building. The sale of the Manila school building build-ing and the old Central school building build-ing ought to aid in the construction of the much, needed (Junior high class rooms here. |
