Utah's Diversity Shown In Display At California Cali-fornia State Fair Utah's exhibit took first rank for diversity or agricultural exhibits in the Western States Building at the California State Fair held at Sacramento, Sacra-mento, California laat week. Centered was a huge great gold seal of the state. And below it, row upoii row of tall jars filled with snowy white sugar the same sugar over! which Senator Smoot has been busy In the corridors of the nation's Capitol Capi-tol at Washington. The backdrop of deep blue was :overed with golden grain, arranged in scores of designs. Below this was the most expansive outlay of agricultural agricul-tural products to be seen in the huge building. The agricultural products were from Utah, Weber and Salt j Lake counties. There were, for instance, glas3 cases of beans dozens of varieties the same was true of the grain exhibits, ex-hibits, the fiel'd crop exhibits and the fruit. Preserved fruit in tall glass vases, through which lights shine, attractively attrac-tively displayed the canning industry's indus-try's expansiveness in our state. At the foot of this great counter of appetizing products, were the mining exhibits. Great chunks of coal, which are shipped to all parts I of the West in trainloads, were to be seen, as well as copper, gold and oth- er minerals. I The salt industry also was represented rep-resented with great quantities in the various stages of refining. Honey, of which the Utalmans are particularly proud, was shown in glass jars and in the comb. Sage, blossom and alfalfa honey forms an important part of our state's exports. I Edwartl W. Bohling, caretaker at the State Capitol, was designer and , custodian of the exhibit. |
