Show City Council Discusses Much Business I . City Council convened in regular session September 7 at 8 p. m. Mayor Newman reported that he and Councilman Moore haJd met with Mr. Hammond of the Union Pacific R. R. Co. relative to the installation of a signal system on the crossing north of the depot. Mr. Hammond stated that the R. R. Co. objected to the installation in-stallation of the signal system at this point but advised the city to pass an ordinance bringing all vehicles to a full stop at this point, stop signs would be furnished by the R. R. Co. Mr. Hammond also advised that the R. R- Co. would furnish a flagman to regulate traffic over this crossing, at all special occasions. Mayor Newman read the program of the State Municipal league conven. tion to be held at Price and urged all members who possibly could to attend. at-tend. The petition of John Swenson for a license to operate a confectionery and fruit stand in the city was left with the License committee, with power to act. Chairman Moore of City Property, reported that the library plastering contract let to Arnold Hendrickson ha'd been completed and accepted. The cemetery plot drawn and presented pre-sented to the council by Chairman Moore was accepted. Mr. Moore was authorized to purchase a portion of the i cemetery lot of Swen O. Anderson, Ander-son, which will be used to extend the path to the sidewalk on the south. The marshal was instructed to meet with the school authorities and ask their cooperation in keeping students from trespassing on Pioneer Pio-neer Grove. Arrangements for painting of "Pleasant Grove City" on the roof of some building in the city, for the convenience of airplanes, was left with the Finance committee. o |
