Show About the Panama Canal '. The canal v0rk3 and other im-' provements in the Canal Zone are the property of the United States government. In a strictly technical sense, the United States did not acquire ac-quire title to any territory in Panama Pan-ama by the Isthmian treaty of 1903. It obtained a perpetual right of occupation, oc-cupation, u-e and control over the land within the zone. For this privilege privi-lege it paid $10,000,000 outright, and pays a rental of $200,000 annually during the life of the treaty. |
