Show Work Goes Forward On Alpine-Draper Tunnel Ground has been broken and work is going forward on both the Alpine-Draper Alpine-Draper and Olmstead tunnel divisions divis-ions of the Deer Creek project, with George K. Thompson company of Los Angeles, contractors on both jobs. Attended by ceremonies witnessed by officials from Salt Lake City and Provo, the work on the Alpine-Draper Alpine-Draper unit was officially launched last week. The two tunnels are a part of the aqueduct line which will convey water from the Deer creek reservoir to north Utati county ana can, iunc county land. Cost of the aqueduct is estimated at $5,500,000. Paul C. Guinn of Los Angeles, superintendent for the company, is ln charge of construction. The Olmstead Olm-stead unit is to be completed ln about five months, and will be 3G00 feet in length. The Alpine-Draper tunnel will take about 20 months, for its three-mile bore. Each tunnel is to be horse-shoe shaped; six-ieet six-inches in diameter dia-meter and lined with 7 inches of concrete, with a capacity of 150 sec-;ond sec-;ond feet. |
