Show Honeybees From Europe Honeybees, as we know them, are not native to America. They had to be imported from Europe, and the first known importation was made in 1638. Early importations were of the so-called German race, a race that is common in the United States, but in later years the yellow Italians came into vogue because they are more docile than the German Ger-man race, yield more honey, and can better cope with the bee moth, which pest is so damaging "to the German and some other races of bees. |
