Show CHIPMAN FIRM GETS CONTRACT ON WARD HALL Award of the general contract for construction of the new Third ward recreation hall and remodeling of Uie chapel to Chlpman Mercantile company was announced by the L. D. S. church thLs week. Word from the presiding bishops' office at Salt Lake City Tuesday was that the proposal of the local firm, lowest In the large field of bids, had been accepted. Ground will be broken soon on the $30,000 project. Under the project, a new recreation recrea-tion hall with stage and projection room will be built, and additional classrooms will be constructed and part of the present chapel remodeled. remodel-ed. A Relief society room, Boy Scout room, kitchen, bishops' room, cloak room and other needed rooms will be provided. The plan for the enlarged building build-ing will be a U shape, with the present chapel, to be left virtually as it stands, forming one arm, and the recreation hall the other. In the center will be an entrance and lobby leading to either side. The project will be financed 60 per cent by the church and 40 per cent by the ward. Committees working on the project are: Building R. L. Ashby, Bishop Frank G. Shelley, Eugene Briggs, John Hunter, Reed Robinson and Walter A. Devey. Finance Eugene Briggs, Jesse M. Walker, Ruby E.
