Show Miss Maud May Babcock To Appear In Recitals Here Miss Maud May Babcock, for many years head of the University of Utah speech department, will give three lecture recitals in American Fork Tuesday, February 21. Miss Babcock will read for the student body and faculty of the American Fork high school in the morning, at an assembly period. Her program will be illustrated. Principal Jesse M. Walker announced an-nounced that there would be some seating room for residents interested in attending the program. In the afternoon Miss Babcock will entertain women of the Relief societies of Alpine stake, at 2 p. m. in the basement of the stake tabernacle. taber-nacle. Mrs. B. N. Christensen, stake Relief society president, extended an invitation to all women of the stake, whether- members of the organization organiza-tion or not, to attend. The combined Relief society gathering will take the place of the regular meetings in the wards, and will be a literary lesson feature. Tuesday evening Miss Babcock will appear in the Second ward, at the M. I. A. meeting. Miss Babcock is a former president presi-dent of the National Association of Teachers of Speech. On retiring last spring, she had an honorary doctor's degree conferred upon her by the University of Utah. During her 46 years on the university faculty, fac-ulty, she directed 42 of the annual varsity plays. Miss Babcock's programs here are of great interest to all interested in literary and dramatic work. Her appearances are under the auspices of the University of Utah extension division. |
