Show Three Share First Honors In City Emblem Contest Ending in a five-way tic for first place, the city emblem contest was brought to a close this week' with the announcement of the winners. Mrs. Oral Eskclson submitted three of the winning designs, and Elma Singleton and Elma Monson shared first place with one design each. Each will share in the prize award, Fire Chief Walter B. Devey announced. From the five winning designs, the contest committee is having an emblem em-blem designed by Joseph Everett, Salt Lake City artist. The finished emblem will incorporate ideas from the winning entries. The finished emblem will be sent to the manufacturers of the new fire truck in California. There an artist will paint the design on the side of the new fire truck which will be delivered to the city in the near future. The emblem also will be used on city letterheads. Twenty-six entries, all in unmarked, unmark-ed, sealed envelopes, were considered consider-ed by the judges. The judges made their decisions without knowing whose work they were judging. |
