Show Alpine Stake Era Drive Now On Era week is here again! Starting October 11, and continuing during the week the annual campaign to place the Improvement Era, the "Voice of the Church" in every Latter-day Saint home is being conducted con-ducted by the Mutual Improvement Association of the Alpine stake. The stake has been given a quota of 310 subscriptions. Leo G. Meredith Mere-dith is in charge of the drive and feels that by the end of this week the stake will be over the top with a full number of subscritions sent in for the Era. j The aim of the magazine is to entertain, instruct, and inspire a variety of people, young, middle aged, and old, and of many interests. In short, to produce a magazine equally acceptable to all members of the family. There never has been a time in the M. I. A. experience when more concern has been felt for the success suc-cess of the Improvement Era campaign cam-paign than at present. The concern con-cern is not that ' more subscriptions will be received this year than last, because there is every assurance at this time that the subscription list this year will exceed those of any year since the two magazines were combined. The cause of the concern is the emphatic necessity for making available to the homes of Latter-day Saints the monthly messages from the Presidency of the Church and other Church leaders. In the face of the present disturbing conditions, when the people, old and young, are being challenged from so many directions di-rections that it is felt to be a duty of every M. I. A. officer from the General Executives and the General Boards to the last appointed officer in any ward to do all within their power reasonably and consistently to induce members of the church to subscribe for, "The Voice of the Church". President Grant has requested re-quested that the "Era" be placed in every Latter-day Saint home. It is a worthy missionary venture to help make his request a reality. President Grant and Dr. John A. Widtsoe are the editors of this worthwhile magazine. Richard L. Evans is managing editor, while Mrs. Marba C. Josephson is uiie associate and feature editor. All who have ever read the work of these, people know of then- ability to bring those things most worthwhile to the people peo-ple of the church. To all wards receiving 100 per cent of the quota, the regular rebate re-bate of 25c on each full subscription will be given and to every stake reaching its quota a cash rebate of 5 per cent of the total subscriptions secured in all of the wards that reach their quotas, will be awarded. |
