I i The history of Mrs. Harriet Daniels Dan-iels Johnson, known to many as Old j Grandma Johnson, was read by Mrs. I Lucy Bush at the meeting of the j Adams Camp of the Daughters of ! the Pioneers Thursday afternoon. Twenty-two members of the camp were present. The lesson "Public Works of the Pioneers" was given by Mrs. Laura Dunkley. Max Grant played a piano solo. Mrs. Nora B. Ingersoll reviewed the message given at the D. U. P. convention held recently re-cently in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Luther Giddings was hostess to the members of the Bee Orchis club at. her home Thursday afternoon. after-noon. The time was spent in social chnt following which a tasty lunch was served to 17 ladies. Mrs. Vilate Clarke of Magrath, Canada, is spending the winter in American Pork. She plans to keep house for her brother, Alva A. Green. Mrs. Kate Lloyd is back in American Ameri-can Fork after spending the past two months in Salt Lake where she underwent a major operation about seven weeks ago. She , says she feels fine and is surely glad to see her many friends here. Robert Pearson, small son of Dr. and Mrs. Allen Pearson, suffered cuts on his right arm Friday afternoon after-noon as he was leaving the school building. Robert was carrying his roller skates at the time and as he raised his arm forward they struck the glass in the door, the broken glass cutting his arm. The child Mark Green of Salt Lake spent Saturday at the home of his father,' Alva Green, and sister, Mrs. George Hunter. Mrs. Grace Sudgen and Mrs. Alice Marcroft of Salt Lake City spent Wednesday of last week at the home j of their mother, Mrs. A. W. Miller. Lorin Peck and Miss Clara Oaka-san Oaka-san of Salt Lake City spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles ' Peck, the occasion being Mr. Charles Peck's birthday anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Drew Clarke of Salt Lake City visited Monday afternoon with Mr. Clark's mother, Mrs. Vilate Clarke, and uncle, Alva Green, at the Green home. Glen Baker returned to his home here last Monday from the Lehi Hospital where he underwent an operation the week before. He is j recovering nicely and will soon be back at work at the Utah Power , and Light Company. i The Variety club members were guests at the home of Mrs. Leona Grant Thursday . afternoon of last week. Other guests were Mesdames Berniece Adams, Grace Chipman, Edna Meredith, Cleone Cleghorn of this city; June Peterson of Lehi; Delpha Holdaway and Jennie Loveless Love-less of Provo. Bridge was played, the prize being won by Mrs. Meredith, Mere-dith, a guest, and Mrs. Emma Steiner a club member. Mrs. Ann Chipman and Mrs. Kate Lloyd entertained the members of the Just-A-Mere Club at the Chip-man Chip-man home Saturday afternoon. The social was in the form of a house warming and guessing games were played. Mrs. Rose Vamey was successful suc-cessful in winning the first prize and Mrs. Lottie Britton won the consolation award. Special guests were, Mrs. James T. Gardner, Mrs. Ervtn Makin and Miss Cady Dunk-ley Dunk-ley of this city, and Mrs. Vilate Clarke of Magrath, Canada. The rooms were attractively decorated with fall flowers. Late in the afternoon af-ternoon a delicious lunch was served. was given medical treatment and his arm is healing nicely. Mrs. J. M. Jensen of the English department of the Brigham Young University is conducting an extension exten-sion class in World Literature for Children, at the Pleasant Grove High School every Wednesday at 4:30. A number of the teachers from the elementary grades of American Pork have signed for the class, and all others interested in this line of work are invited to join the class either for credit or as a listening course. The Misses Elaine Smith, Evelyn Peck and Helen Johnston appeared in a recital of the piano students of Professor Elmer E. Nelson in College Hall, Provo, October 8. " The girls are all talented musicians of this city and have appeared at many local functions. Miss Smith played two numbers "Scherzo in E Minor" and "Malague-na". "Malague-na". Miss Peck played "Impromtu of C Minor", and Miss Johnston played "Polonaise in C Minor" and "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 11". Miss Smith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Smith; Miss Peck, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peck, ' and Miss Johnston the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Johnston. ' Mrs. Lloyd Tregaekis was hostess to the members of the Deltha Dames club at her home October 7th. Other guests were Mrs. Ted Chip-man, Chip-man, Mrs. Velda Shumway, Mrs. Lucille Ellison and Mrs. Lenore Chip-man. Chip-man. Mrs. Ellison won the guest prize and Mrs. Louise Storrs the club prize at bridge. Tasty refreshments refresh-ments were served. Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Peck of Salt Lake City visited last week at the home of their son, Charles Peck and family. Monlay their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Marcroft of Long Beach, California, visited at the Peck home, Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Peck leaving with them for the coast to spend the winter months. |
