Show Young Girl Severely-Injured Severely-Injured In Car Crash 1 Miss Rose Butte, a Junior at the American Fork high school, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. But'te, was seriously injured Friday morning morn-ing when the truck on which she was riding on her way to high school was hit by a car driven by Glen Peck. Her left foot, struck by the bumper of the Peck car, was severe, ly crushed, her shoe and stocking being completely torn away in the impact. Dr. V. F. Houston was call-ed call-ed and she was rushed to the Lehi hospital where surgical treatment was given her. It was founVI necessary neces-sary to amputate a part of her foot and one toe. The others figuring in the accident were: Leigh Ingersoll, driver of the truck, Val Gaisford, Selma Seastrand, Bertha Clarke, and Lois Greenwood. All escaped injury, excepting Miss Greenwood who sustained several body bruises, when she was knocked to the ground. Leigh Ingersoll, a Senior, driver of the truck, had picked up Selma Seastrand, J3ertha Clarks, Lois Greenwood and Miss Butte. He was driving north on Center street and Peck was coming west on Third North. The girls were standing on the running board and were thrown into the air. Miss Butte and Miss Greenwood, being on the right side, between the cars sustained the injuries, in-juries, the former being caught between be-tween the cars. The cars were only slightly damaged. Witnesses isay the Ingersoll car was going at a moderate speed and the Peck car driven at a lively pace crashed headon into the rear side of the car loaded with the students. |
