Show i ; Manila Youth Browned In Featherstone Reservoir Hector Evans Meets Dentil While Crossing Pond On Horse. An attempt to cross the Feather-; Feather-; stone reservoir on horseback proved ; fatal to Hector Evans, 14-year-old ; son of Mr. and Mrs. Uohn L. Evans, when the youth was drowned Sunday. Sun-day. The accident occured at 12:3a on the old Featherstone farm northeast north-east of town and the body was not iccovered until nearly two houis later. Young Evans, with his brother,. William, had started on a horseback ride. On reaching the old mill pond on the Featherstone farm, now the A. W. Pulley property, the boys decided de-cided to swim their horse across the pond. Not knowing the depth of the water at this point, Hector urged the horse off the enbackment About 20 yards out, in the center of the reservoir, reser-voir, the horse became excited and young Hector was forced off. Unable to swimi in the mu'ddy water, the boy sank before the horse reached the opposite bank, and before his brother broth-er could summon aid. Seeing his brother sinking, William Will-iam went to the A. W. Pulley home, which was nearby, to get help. The American Fork fire department responded re-sponded to the call and the pulmotor at the Provo fire department was also al-so sent for. All hope of saving his life vanished, vanish-ed, when the relief party was unable un-able to find his body until 2:30, when it was recovered by means of pulling a hayrake through the pond. The Evans boy is survived by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services and burial was at Castle Dale, the former home ot the family before coming to Manila.
