Miss Virginia Merce- here uus w?ek. The 4-H club of the Second ward, with Mrs. West Hammond and Miss Relia Allen as leaders, met last Thursday afternoon. The gins sewed on hot pads for a while after af-ter which the group went up by the Mill and enjoyed a picnic. There were nine in the party. Miss Merma Grant entertained Wednesday night in compliment to her cousin, Grant Peterson, who is visiting here this week from Richfield. Rich-field. The guests numbering sixteen, six-teen, enjoyed games played on the lawn and a dainty lunch was served. . John R. Hindley of Salt Lake spent Wednesday here with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hindley Sr. Mrs. Jane C. Robinson of Provo visited here this week with Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Seastrand and family. Am. Fork Locals Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pulley and family .spent two days last week in Spanish Fork canyon. Mrs. Carl A. Peterson and son Keith of Vlovis, New Mexico, are liere for an extended visit with Mrs. Peterson, formerly Miss Cleo Bates. The Fcality Club ladies combined their meeting last Thursday with an afternoon's outing at Saratoga. Bridge was played after which a tasty lunch was enjoyed. Miss Leo-na Leo-na Osterloh of Lchi was a special guest. Mr. and Mrs. James Varney have relumed after an enjoyable ten days' visit with Mr. and Mrs. John Berg at their ranch near Kamas. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Brown (Miss Mane Berg) are spending their honeymoon at the Berg ranch. Miss Lillie Shafter entertained the Variety Club at her home Monday night. Bridge was the main diversion, diver-sion, the prizes being won by Mrs. Thelma Moss and Mrs. Mate Earl. Tasty refreshments were served at the small tables. Mrs. K. Ball of San Diego, California, was a special guest. i Mrs. Karl Bennett and Miss Anal-la Anal-la Devey entertained Monday evening eve-ning at the Devey home for their sister, Miss Amy Devey, a bride of this week. Miss Fern Hunter and Miss Grace Parker assisted the hostesses hos-tesses in taking charge of the games. Delicious refreshments were served at the small tables, twenty four guests being present. Miss Devey was presented with a number of lovely gifts. Mrs. Margaret Robinson, for many years a faithful teacher in the First ward Belief Society, and who recently recent-ly resigned, was guest of honor at a social given by the organization in the ward chapel last Tuesday afternoon. after-noon. A committee of twenty is chosen each month from the society to entertain en-tertain the rest of the members and Mrs. Arsena Robinson headed the committee which put over this party. There were forty-five present. Mrs. Robinson was presented with a gift expressing the love and' esteem of her fellow members in the Relief Society. . Grant Peterson, of Richfield, is spending the week here with his grandmother, Mrs. Rosa Grant. Grant's brother, Blair, returned to American Fork with him after a visit of several weeks in Richfield. E. Duncan of Salt Lake, formerly of American Fork are tha proud parents of a grandson, the parents being Mr. and Mrs. Roy Prince. The mother was formerly Miss Millie Duncan. The Duncans also recently became great-grandparents when a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Marcel Manseey (Miss Versa Steggell). Both mothers and babies are doing do-ing nicely. Misses Millie Steele and May Condor Con-dor were hostesses last Tuesday night at the Steele home to the First ward Gleaner Girls. The girls spent the time in sewing and planning for their outing at Mutual D311, after which a delicious lunch was served. Twenty were present and were entertained en-tertained with a program, games and light refreshments. The Sunshine Sun-shine Committee of the Relief Society So-ciety was in charge. A welcome into the neighborhood party was tendered Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey Ovard at their home Thursday Thurs-day evening of last week. Mrs. Ella Thornton Chipman of Los Angeles has been visiting with relatives and friends in Utah the past week and while here has been the house gftiest of Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Noyes. Mrs. Chipman ' leaves Saturday morning for Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Moffett returned Thursday of last week from a ten days trip up along the Pacific Northwest and into Canada. Every minute was thoroughly enjoyed they report, but then these four could have a good time anytime, anywhere. Mrs. Nita Sullivan and her brother, broth-er, Lenard Madsen, motored from Las Vegas, Nevada, and are visiting visit-ing here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marius Madsen. Mr. Mad-sen Mad-sen will return the end of the week, being employed in Las Vegas. Mrs. Myrtle Prestwich of Provo Bench has been spending the past two weeks with her parents here, and another daughter, Mrs. Vivian Ray and daughter of Bingham spent esveral days here with the Madsens. Mrs. Sam Kelly of Provo is spending spend-ing the week here with her sister, Mrs. Stanford Wilde. Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Wilde and Miss Myrtle Wilde combined business bus-iness with pleasure on a trip to Salt Lake Monday. Mrs. Mabel Miller spent several days the past week in Salt Lake with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Leavitt and family. Mrs. Ed Larson and two sons of Salt Lake are visiting here with Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Cunningham and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Davis of Lehi announce the arrival of a winsome baby daughter at their home, bom Thursday evening, July 6th. The mother, who was formerly former-ly Miss Mozell Cunningham of this city, and the babe are doing well. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Thomas of Kallispell, Montana, are enjoying a visit of two weeks here with Mrs. Thomas' mother, Mrs. W. A. Robinson, Robin-son, and with Mr. Thomas' relatives in Spanish Fork. Mr. and Mrs. E. Ray Gardner have as their guests Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Jones who arrived here from Washington, D. C, Saturday. En-route En-route they visited points of interest including Chicago and the World's Fair. Mr. Jones has been employed for the past two years as engineering aide by (the Inter-State Commerce Commission in the national capitol. He left Sunday for Fort Hall, Idaho, where he has been appointed locating engineer and will be engaged in surveying sur-veying trails and roads in the territory ter-ritory east of the Fort. Mrs. Jones and her two children will remain in American Fork and Provo visiting with relatives and friends for a few weeks. Mrs. Jones is Mrs. Gardner's sister. |
