Show Time to audition for Payson's 'Hello Dolly' The history continues as the successful Payson Community Theatre presents its 20th anniversary an-niversary production of "Hello, Dolly." Auditions will be held on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, May 4, and Friday, May 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Payson High School Choral Room, 1050 South Main. Doris Gasser has been cast as Dolly and all other leads, choreography, and choral groups will be filled by audition. Tryouts will involve dancing, reading, and singing a number, preferably with a piece from the show." Doris Gasser will be reprising her role as Dolly which she performed 15 years ago. "I feel I can bring more maturity to the role-now that I am the age of a matchmaker," she said. Gasser has served on Payson Community Theatre's governing board for 15 years. Besides Dolly, she has been the lead in "Mame," "Brigadoon," and "No, No, Nanette." She also appeared as Carrie Snow in "Carousel" and performed in "Harvey." David Dahlquist was selected as director. Dahlquist served concurrently con-currently for two years as assistant to the musical director at the University of Utah's Pioneer Memorial Theatre and as music director at Lagoon Opera House. He was also musical director of Bob Peterson's "Man of LaMancha" touring company." Neil Vanderpool, well-known for his talents in the drama field, will be sharing his professional skills with Payson Community Theatre as part of the production team. Vanderpool will be the choreographer and set designer for this year's production of "Hello, Dolly." "I have heard good things about Payson's theatre since I moved here. I'm excited about this opportunity," he said. |
