Next week the water polo team is traveling to Tucson, Arizona to play in a tournament. i Taylor does it again as baseballers down Provo A pair of third inning "grand slam" home runs powered Pleasant Grove to a 15-- 3 win over Provo Friday in Region 8 baseball. The visiting Bulldogs took a 0 lead in the first inning, but the Vikes tied the score in their half of the inning. Cory Carter drew a walk, stole second and went on to third on a passed ball, the first of several, as the Provo catcher had trouble handling Johnny Wright's pitches all game. From there, Carter scored after Cody Bell's ground ball was fielded by the shortstop but the throw got by the first baseman. Provo will try to forget the third inning. Wright fell behind on every hitter and complained to the umpire that his pitches were hitting the corners. The umpire disagreed. Two walks and an error loaded the bases for Joe Taylor, the Vikes' designated hitter. Taylor belted a home run that bounched off the cinder block wall on the other side of the center field fence and PG led Scott Jensen picked up an RBI with a single and after a pitching change, the Vikes loaded the bases again. This time Bell hit the "grand slam" to produce four more runs. Before the inning was over, the Vikes had scored 11 runs and Provo was ready to go home. Another pitching change put Trent Halliday on the mound for Provo and Jeff Harris lashed a vicious line drive back through the box that hit Halliday in the left arm. Halliday was taken to the hospital and the play sparked a verbal ex-change in the stands as one Provo fan accused the Vikes of hitting Halliday on purpose. Jensen hit a solo home run in the fourth and the Bulldogs scored two more runs before the game was mercifully ended on the n rule after five innings. Adam Taylor went the distance and was the winning pitcher. P.G. remains tied with Carbon for second spot in Region 8 with 2 records. Spanish Fork leads the league with a 7-- 1 mark.
