Show Deer hunt prospects good, if weather is . 1 Permitting, deer harvest j success should be up from l years statewide. That's the I iZ J n from Grant Jense, big ' Krgram coordinator for the jj 1411 Division of Wildlife Resources. I I areas of the state have shown rovement, says Jense, and J Utah should start to l j S d SOme better hunting in the 9. Ulavnte areas. Jense is hesitant to forecast deer hunting success in particular areas since hunting success depends on much more than deer herd size. The biologist suggests hunters hunt their old familiar places. One caution: Forest roads in some areas, especially the Wasatch Plateau, are still suffering from the results of a wet weather cycle Ruts mudslides and associated problems will make some roads virtually impassable. Some preseason scouting is advised. Deer season begins Oct. 18 and runs through Oct. 28. Licenses are $15 and available at sporting goods and variety stores around the state. Hunters are urged to read the big game hunting proclamation before going hunting. There are some changes that could catch the uninformed hunter off guard. - |
