The Planemaker' with Marvin Payne to play at Babymoon "The Planemaker," a musical stage fantasy designed to re-awaken childhood's dreams, will be played live by gifted songwriter and storyteller Marvin Payne at Babymoon Theatre, Jan. 20 thru Feb. 10. Performances will begin at 8 p.m. Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are $4 at the door. Critically acclaimed in per-formances across the nation, "The Pla.. aker" is about a small boy, Lucas Lightbrow, who dreams that he can fly, maybe even out to the stars. Two joys consume his young life -- courting lovely Amy Fletcher and building wild flying machines of other people's junk - but his planes won't fly, and he loses Amy at the birth of their only child. Lucas sends his son to be raised by city relatives, tends his farm alone, and gets old and empty in an uncaring world. Then his mysterious grandson comes to visit, finds the forgotten planes, and brings the old man's dream to life again, sending him finally on a breathtaking celestial flight back to his beloved Amy. Story and songs were written by Payne and partner Guy Randle. This production is directed by Rosanna Weeks Ungerman. Marvin Payne blends the skill acquired in the creation of 10 albums of original songs, writing for several internationally-know- n artists, penning seven hundred songs, and acting in a broad range of plays and films, to make this one-ma- n stage fantasy fly. Olympic Team, will present a workshop during the grand opening activities at Charier Canyon Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. Dr. Raiport will address the topic "Enhancing Performance Through the Soviet Mental Technique of Self-Contr- - Training (A.C.T.)" Most of Dr. Raiport's research is in human performance enhancement. "A first grader in the Soviet Union gets more help than Olympic-calibe- r athletes do here," said Raiport. John Roake, spokesman for the hospital, feels Dr. Raiport's address will be of interest to the community. "Anyone who is concerned about his or her performance at anything and its related conditions, such as stress or anxiety, will benefit from the workshop," he said. Hours of the shop are Mondays from noon to 7 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ; Friday, noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Woodward said the record store has been open in Pleasant Grove since March of 1984, but decided to move to American Fork because of its central location in the north .end of Utah County. He invited area residents to drop in and get acquainted at his new location. i - Rock's Records is opening in American Fork today at 57 East Main. Owned by Rock Woodward, the store offers records and tapes in-cluding the new laser compact discs. "We probably have the largest inventory of laser compact discs in Utah County with over 600 different titles," Woodward says. He explained the laser discs are a minature record that are played with a laser beam. They never wear out and everything is on one side of the disc. The sound, he says, is the closest thing to perfect you can get presently. They do have to be played on a compact disc player, which is now .becoming more popular. ; j? ' In addition to records and tapes, Rock's has blank cassette and video tapes, phonograph needles, and electrical accessories for audio and video' machines plus home and car stereo equipment at discount prices. "We sell all kinds of music and have a good selection of country western music," Woodward said. Because of the name "Rock's," many people feel the store carrys only rock music but that isn't the case. 'It's Rock's because that's my name," he said. He said they do warranty repair work on most major brands of audio and video equipment regardless of EH 6:00 O (6) 0 (S NEWS O (S) WHEEL OF FORTUNE O & WILD, WILD WORLD OF ANI-MALS CD (T5) TIMMY AND LASSIE GD (J3) GIMME A BREAKI aS WORLD WAR II: AIR POWER ROLLER DERBY J PRIMENEWS 25 NEWI ANIMAL WORLD (5 ROCKER 85 (33) COLLEGE BASKETBALL ' 6:05(29 MOVIE V, "The Sackells" (1979, Weslern) Glenn Ford.
