Show Experimental speed zone approved The Utah Transportation Commission Com-mission approved a resolution proposed by the Utah Department of Transportation's Safety Division to Establish experimental speed xones in American Fork. The test section will be used to determine if the installation of signs-has signs-has an effect on actual speeds. Areas under study are U.S. 89 from 350 East to 750 East at 30 miles per hour and 100 East on U.S. 89 to 1100 North at 30 mph. Engineering evaluation will be used for about one year to collect data and establish a relationship between the posted speed and the actual speed vehicles are traveling. The Transportation Commission approved a resolution esetablishing guidelines for the operation of commercial snowplows. Under the guidelines, the maximum allowable blade width will be 10 feet; during the operation, the vehicle will be required to have adequate illumination when the blade is in up or down position; and vehicles with blades longer than eight and a half feet must be equipped with a rotating yellow warning light. The next meeting of the Commission Com-mission will be Jan. 24 in Salt Lake City. |
