Waller married Bertha Elua Clarke, a teacher in the Alpine School District, on Nov. 22, 1950 m the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had Walter Brock of two children, James California and Jane Suisun City, Drew who died in infancy. Bertha died on Dec. 27, 1961. He married Donna Olpin Ash, a teacher and administrator in the Alpine School District, on Nov. 16, 1962. Her children, who she has shared with him, include, Dr. K. Owen Ash, Salt Lake City; Pauline Ash Muller, deceased; and Len Gene Ash of Orlando, Fla. Walt and Donna have 26 grand-children and nine great-grandchildren. Walter has expressed his ap-preciation for the opportunity af-forded him to serve the students, natrons and school personnel of the Walter Brock of Pleasant Grove has retired from the Alpine School District after 30 years of teaching and counseling. His retirement was effective Dec. 31. Waller obtained a B.S. degree from BYU in 1953 with a major in sociology and a minor in history. He taught 'sixth grade at Lindon, Central and Grovecrest Elementary Schools and at American Fork Junior High School for 14 years. While on sabbatical leave between he obtained a master 1467 and 1969, of education degree in school psychology at BYU and returned to the Alpine School District at the beginning of the 1969-7- 0 school year. He has served as a school psychologist for the past 16 years Waller was the first fulltime school psychologist in the Alpine School District. His assignments have enabled him to serve students on all grade levels, pre-scho- through high school. Now that he has some spare time Walter wants to do some genealogt work, temple work, write his lis story, do some gardening and somf work on the house. Open house slated in honor of 80th birthday of Martha Forbes The children of Martha Forbes will honor her on her 80th birthday at an open house Jan. 18 from 2 to 5 p.m. at her home, 596 N. Main, Alpine. The family requests no gifts, please. Mrs. Forbes was born Jan. 18, 1906, in Lehi to Peter Nels and Rose Evlyn Winn Peterson. At an early age, she learned the importance of thrift, dedication and hard work. From her mother she learned to cook, sew, play the piano, do hand work and keep an neat and orderly home. Her mother saw that she was educated and attended Brigham Young University, where she earned her teaching certificate. She -s taught in the San Juan and Alpin. iool Districts. She met Arthur Robey Forbes while teaching in Alpine. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 29, 1928. They were the parents of three children: David A. Forbes, Caldwell, Idaho; and Allen R. Forbes and Carol Drew, both of American Fork. In addition to teaching school, Mrs. Forbes has worked as a clerk at Sprouse-Reit- z for 15 years. Mrs. Forbes has been active in the LDS Church, teaching in Mutual, Primary, the Relief Society and Junior Sunday School. She was president of the Relief Society, a counselor in the Primary and Junior Sunday School Coordinator. She was affiliated with the Training School LDS Branch as a librarian and secretary of the Primary while Mr. Forbes was in the Branch presidency. She enjoys doing genealogy work. Health Fair planned by LDS stakes A health fair sponsored by the Pleasant Grove and Timpanogos Stakes will be held April 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Timpanogos Stake Center. The fair is open to all families. All Pleasant Grove, Lindon and Manila residents are invited to at-tend the fair. Educational health exhibits and demonstrations and screening booths will be available during the day. The booths will be manned by professionals. Gayle Judd, chairman of the event, said that the goal is to educate and screen families for better health. Extensive blood tests will be of-fered to those age 18 and over during the fair. The results of the tests will be mailed to those who had them taken. There are two types of tests being offered, one for $15 which is Ihe most extensive and one for $10 which tests for fewer conditions. Others assisting with the health fair are Joanne Brady, president of the Pleasant Grove Stake Relief; Society, and Beverly Davis, President of the Timpanogos Stake Relief Society. They urged all residents of the area to put this date on their; calendar. More information will be forthcoming later. Brad and Susan Baxter welcome girl Brad and Susan Larson Baxter, formerly of Pleasant Grove, are happy to announce the birth of Megan Elizabeth on Dec. 4, 1985 at the North Davis Hospital in Syracuse, Utah. The new baby weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces and was 21 inches long. She is a delight to her older sister, Eryn, age four.
