Anderson manages the Anderson & Sons Mortuary in American Fork and represents Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California on the FDA Board of Governors and chairs the Association's Study and Research Committee. "We came to BYU," Anderson explained, "because the university continues to advocate the place of value and tradition in contemporary society - and especially the role of the family." Representatives of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) met recently with a number of academic deans at BYU to discuss a research project of national import. NFDA has 14,500 members and is the world's largest funeral service organization. Association Executive Director David Bohardt and board m ember Alan Anderson explored with BYU the possibility of launching a major nationwide study on the impact of . traumatic events on ch ildren. "Our interest in this subject," said Bohardt, "was certainly prompted by the space shuttle tragedy, but the issue has always been there."
