The city council is going to apply for additional Safe Sidewalk money to be used on lOo'East on Ihe west side of the road by the cemetery in hopes the children will use the sidewalk and not walk through the cemetery property. By MARCELLA WALKER Superior Concrete, Inc. of American Fork has received a contract to install sidewalk on 100 East in Pleasant Grove for submitting sub-mitting the apparent low bid on the project. Pleasant Grove City Council formally accepted the bid of the company at the council meeting Tuesday. The bid of $46,737.74 had been approved by the state, also, ' since the project is being financed by a State Safe Sidewalk Grant. The grant was for $70,000 and the engineer's estimate was $69,500. A meeting was scheduled with state officials to see if additional work could be done with the remaining money in the grant. The city council has suggested that a new water line"be installed in the roadway while the work is being done so that the new asphalt will not have to be torn up later. In connection with this the council discussed a proposed agreement between Pleasant Grove City and the Manila Water Company on how to handle construction of water lines where the two systems border. Mayor David Holdaway reported that a portion of the proposal said that the Manila Water Company will put in. the lines within their service area. If the work is not completed in 90 days then the city will put in or extend the lines. |
