Show Fire damages Niels on home A fire at the home of Lynn Nielson, 300 S. 1400 East, Pleasant Grove, did an estimated $50,000 damage, without counting furnishings, according ac-cording to Fire Chief Frank Mills. The Monday afternoon blaze was apparently caused by an electrical problem in the utility room. Chief Mills said it could possibly have been a short in an electrical plug. He set the damage at $40,000 to the structure and $10,000 in smoke damage. Chief Mills complemented Mrs! Nielsen, who discovered the fire, for closing the door between the utility room where the blaze was located and the hallway. He said this stopped the fire from being vented throughout the entire house before the fire department arrived. Mrs. Nielsen and two children were home at the time of the fire but they were able to escape without injury. Chief Mills said it only took a short time to douse the flames but it took a considerable amount of time to get the dense smoke from the home. Three .firetrucks and approximately ap-proximately 15 fire fighters responded to the fire. In addition, the new rescue truck was on standby in case it was needed for medical assistance. Chief Mills said that the fire department has responded to two structure fires in the past few days and eight fires in the last week. He also noted that he was pleased with the response time to the fire at the Nielson home. :i r " - - -: ' 4 f - ' . - . , , ? r vj.
