Photo by Kurt Montgomery. Vikings outrun Payson in dual track meet Pleasant Grove's track team pounded Payson in a dual meet held last week on the Viking track. ' The girls rolled over the visiting ; Lady Lions 75-43,. with Lila Fugal taking first place in three events 1 and Debbie Fisher, Christine Lutes and Rhonda Simmons each winning j a pair of events. ! Fugal was tops in the long and high jump and the 100 meter high hurdle event. Fisher won the 200 and 400; Lutes took first in both weight events, the shot put and discus while Simmons was best in the 100 and 300 hurdles. Other first place winners for the -Lady Vikings were Laurie Ostler in the 1600 and Jill West in the 800. While the girls were beating up on Payson, the boys were crushing the visitors 111 to 30. Ron Reynolds j posted three first place wins in the i. lfiOO, 800 and 3200 plus running a leg t ' on a winning relay team. Robert Jolley, not to be outdone, took first in the 100, 200 and javelin plus a relay leg. Jolley had a throw of 175 feet 11 inches to win the javelin. Bill Adamson won both hurdle races and was second in the long jump. Todd Simmons won the 400. Other first place winners for the Vikings were Rick Mayo in the pole vault, Rick Shumway in the discus and Kerry VanDyke in the high jump. In addition to Reynolds wins in the distance races, Blaine Maez and Greg Slager helped PG sweep both of those events. PG was scheduled to host Springville yesterday afternoon on the Viking track. The next home meet is set for Thursday, May 9, when Pleasant Grove will host the annual Tri-City Meet. |
