New ward formed in Manila Second division Manila Stake President Grant Fugal presided at the division of the Manila Second Ward Sunday and the formation of the new Manila Fifth Ward. Named as bishop of the new Fifth Ward is Gayle Davis with Arden Makin as first counselor and Joe Garlick as second counselor. Clerks are Marcus Asay, executive secretary; David Johnson, assistant ward clerk; and John Freeman, ward clerk. Released as bishop of the Manila Second Ward was Craig Smith and counselors Willard Holman and Stan Boyer. Keith Allred was sustained as bishop of the Manila Second Ward with Stan Boyer as first counselor and Craig R. Johnson as second counselor. Clerks are Devon Hunt, assistant ward clerk; Bart Farnsworth, Farn-sworth, executive secretary; Brent K. Davis, membership clerk; and Boyd Holdaway, ward clerk. Prior to the division there were about 830 people in the Manila Second Ward. Bishop Davis was born and raised in Orem. He recieved his B.S. degree in biology and received an M.A. in Education Administration from BYU. He has been employed in the Church Educational System for the past 14 years. Currently he is the principal at the American Fork High School Seminary. He has served in two Elders Quorum presidencies, was a member of a bishopric in Blanding, and served as the High Priest Group Leader prior to his call as bishop. He enjoys hunting, fishing and hiking. He and his wife, Lorraine, are the parents of seven children. Arden was born and raised in Pleasant Grove. He moved to Manila in 1959 and has lived in the Manila area all but seven years since that date. He served as ward clerk of the Manila Second Ward for the past five years. He is employed by Boyles Bros. Drilling Company in Salt Lake . City as their controller. He is married to Lyda Miller Makin and they have five children. He enjoys the out-of-doors. He is a graduate of LDS Business College. Joe was born in Provo and raised throughout parts of Utah County. He served a mission to Australia and served in the U. S. Navy for four years. He has been employed at Geneva' and has taught school. He enjoys all indoor-outdoor sports and is very mechanically talented. He has served as a Seventy's Group Leader, Activities Chairman, Chair-man, Ward Clerk, and in the Elders Quorum presidency. He and his wife, Darlene, are the parents of five children. Marcus was born in Provo and raised in Salt Lake. He served a mission to Southern California. He received his B.S. in Business from California University and an MBA in International Business from American Graduate School of international in-ternational Business. He is currently vice president of marketing for the Utah Jazz and a marketing consultant for "This People" magazine. He is working on his masters in counseling for his part-time chaplaincy in the U.S. Air Force. He has served as a Sunday School president, Elders Quorum presidency, ward executive secretary, a counselor in a bishopric in Boston and a Sunday School teacher. He enjoys writing and politics. He and his wife, Jeanice, have four children. John was born and raised in Pleasant Grove. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and received a degree from Utah Technical College in Electronic Technology. He is currently finishing his B.S. degree in Business from the University of Phoenix. . He has served as scoutmaster, Deacon's Quorum advisor and membership clerk. He enjoys computer technology. He and his wife, Anita, are the parents of four children. David was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. He served a mission in Finland. He received a B. S. in electronic technology from BYU. He is a computer programmer at SOS Computers in Provo. He has been a ward clerk, a primary teacher and a member of a Sunday School presidency. He is married to the former Mary Jayne Mabrey. He enjoys gardening and computers. Bishop Allred is the head basketall coach at Pleasant Grove High School. He teaches health and anatomy. He recently started taking piano lessons. He enjoys yard work and spec tator sports. He and his wife, Judy, are the parents of five children . Stan is a realtor for Mountain Land ERA in Pleasant Grove. He enjoys all outdoor sports, hunting, fishing and being in the mountains. He and his wife, Roxanne, are the parents of six children. Craig is the manager of Christensen's Department Store in Pleasant Grove. He likes all sports, especially hunting and fishing. He and his wife, Jana, are the parents of three girls. Bart is a history teacher at Pleasant Grove Junior High School. His hobbies are fishing, hunting and sports. He and his wife, Leslie, are the parents of four children. Boyd recently returned to BYU to earn a degree in manufacturing engineering technology. He likes yard work, travel and his family. He and his wife, Louise, are the parents of three children. Brent "works for Becton and Dickinson, makers of Computerized Blood Analysis Machines, His hobbies are skiing, motorcycles, motor-cycles, and gardening. He and his wife, Anna, are the parents of three children. Devon works for Northwest Pipeline in Salt Lake City. He likes . yardwork, golf and skiing. He and his wife, Debbie, are the parents of four children. |
