Show Vikes, West open pigskin season Pleasant Grove opens the 1985 football season at West High Friday afternoon. The game is set for a ."cool" 3 p.m. on the Panther field. West is the defending 3-A state champions and are under new coaching this season. Long-time West head man, Gena Plaga, retired last year. West will sport a huge line but it is not known what the new head coach will do offensively. On the Viking side of the field, Coach Doug Bluth and his staff, Darold Henry, Scott Ormond and Bob Salazar, are working with 41 varsity candidates. PG will again use the multiple option attack triggered this year by Shawn Jacobson and Kevin Ash at quarterback. quar-terback. The Vikes have just one non-league non-league game this year and next week jump into the region schedule by hosting Spanish Fork. PG's sophomores play West at PG tomorrow at 4 p.m. Coaches Ray Fugal and Jack Hill have 40 sophs in uniform for the season.
