Show Mrs. Utah 1985 search launched A statewide search has been launched for a Mrs. Utah, 1985, and applications are now being accepted from married women from throughout the state who wish to participate in the Mrs. Utah Pageant slated to be held in Salt Lake City at the Capitol Theatre on Nov. 3. Josette Western, pageant director, said that the opportunity to be a contestant is open to all married women in the state of Utah and that there are only minimum eligibility requirements. An applicant, she said, must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Utah for at least six months and married for a year or more at date of entry. Mother's and grandmothers may apply, she stated, because there is no upper age limit. "The theme of the pageant is the 'Fairest Wife of All'," Ms. Western stated, "and we will carry out that theme by finding the most beautiful married woman in Utah." Contestants will be judged on beauty, poise and personality and will participate in swimsuit and evening gown competitions. Ms. Western explained that the winner of the Mrs. Utah pageant will be Utah's participant in the Mrs. America pageant to be held in Las Vegas next May. She will also receive cash and other prizes, including in-cluding a cruise for two and an expense-paid trip to Las Vegas. In addition, she will represent the married women of Utah in state and local events during her reign as Mrs. Utah, 1985. Applications forms and other information may be obtained by writing to the Mrs. Utah. Pageant, P.O. Box 520012, Salt Lake City 84152, or by calling (801) 268-1003. |
