Show Trekkie loves Search for Spock By SHARON MORREY I admit it, I'm a card-carrying Trekkie and so this review is probably biased. On the other hand, because I'm admittedly a Star Trek lover from way back on TV, I may be harder to please than most and I loved it --'Star --'Star Trek III, The Search for Spock," currently playing at the Towne Cinemas. It has everything an authentic Trekkie looks for; action, drama and Captain Kirk at his finest. The lines are clever and Kirk's wit is sharp. No one can tell what will happen next and the bad guys get what they deserve. Although 1 suffered a pang as the Enterprise blew apart and cried for Captain Kirk's personal losses, I genuinely enjoyed the hour and a half I was in deep space. The crew is familiar and the personalities aged but the plot is a new one with twists that put Kirk, Spock, and McCoy into situations that test again their courage, their loyalty to Starfleet and their . comradery for each other. Only my kids enjoyed it more than I. I recommend it for anyone who loves a good escape movie with color, interest and imagination --and --and without sex, violence and depression: Star Trek IV, I'm ready. |
