Chapel, 3986 West 8800 North. Jfp! Amy has just returned from the Thailand Bangkok Mission. She and her family would like to invite all friends and relatives to attend her homecoming as well as an house open which will be held at the Thomas home following the meeting. While in Thailand Amy served the first part of her mission as a proselyting missionary and the last few months were spent in the refugee camp as a welfare missionary. J. Scott Hamner Elder John Scott Hamner, son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. and Marilyn N. Hamner, Pleasant Grove, has been called to serve in the Columbus, Ohio LDS Mission. A farewell service will be held for him on Sunday, Oct. 30, 1983 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sixth Ward Chapel, 700 E. 500 N., Pleasant Grove. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. An open house will also be held the same afternoon at his grandmother's home, 690 North 500 East, Pleasant Grove. Elder Hamner will enter the Missionary Training Center on Nov. 3, 1983. Scott graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. He served as football and basketball manager for two years. He also served as secretary of his Teacher's Quorum. Scott is an Eagle Scout. Scott has worked at Norton's since his senior year. He is the grandson of Daisy Nielsen and the late Ross O. Nielsen of Pleasant Grove, Charles B. Hamner, Pleasant Grove; and Ellen Chandler of Antiock, California. Jason T. Blackham Elder Jason T. Blackham, son of Dr. and Mrs. Max A. Blackham, Pleasant Grove, has been called to serve in the Sydney, Australia LDS Mission. He will speak in sacrament service Sunday, Oct. 30, at 9 a.m. in the Manila 4th Ward, 3825 W. 8300 North, Pleasant Grove. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. An open house will also be held the same afternoon at the family home, 2024 N. 600 West. Elder Blackham will enter the Missionary Training Center on November 3. He was active in sports and was on the varsity wrestling team. He has served as a counselor in all of his Aaronic Priesthood quorums. He has also attended Ricks College for one year. Multi-region- al Young Adults plan Halloween party The Multi-region- Young Adults will hold a Halloween l'arty and dance Friday, Oct. 2K, at Mutual Dell in the South Fork of American Fork Canyon from 8 p.m. til 11:-5- p.m. The cost will be $1 for those who in-iv- r before ) p.m :inrl ' :ifl-- 0 p.m. Costumes are welcomed but are not required. Refreshments will be served. All Young Adults from Ix;hi, American Fork and Pleasant Grove areas are invited to the party. Community Presbyterian Church plans bazaar, bake sale, luncheon The Community Presbyterian Church in American Fork will hold a bazaar, bake sale and luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. til 5 p.m. The church is located at 75 N. 100 E., in the Kershaw Education Building. Parking is available in the rear. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. til 2:30 p.m. The bazaar will feature a large variety of homemade goodies and hand crafted items. There will be great gift buys for all ages. Everyone is invited to attend. TOPS member achieves weight loss goal Tops Ut. 156 met at a members home Thursday to honor Donna Shumway who has reached her desired weight goal. In order to receive this honor DoTina had to reach her goal and remain there for a period of 13 weeks. She was honored with a delicious e pot luck luncheon. As the holidays approach and we think of all the parties we would like to attend and look our best but need to lose a few unwanted nounds we urge you, if interested, to come and join us each Thursday at 9:45 a.m. in the Lindou City Building (back door). Center Pleasant Grove recreation would tte to remind everyone that they be holding a first annual pumpkin carving contest on Saturday at 10 a.m. Individual entries are 75 cents J Per person, and the entries will be SI broken down into age divisions. "I There will also be a family division, I which will cost $1.50. T AE entrants must bring their V own carving tools. The Recreation Nj Dept. will provide pumpkins ara prizes. Unda Anderson will be heading up the contest, and hopes this will start a fun Halloween tradition in Pleasant Grove. Mrs. Anderson also reminds all in Pleasant Grove that anyone who comes to the Center between Z p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Halloween will be able to skate free. She asks that those attending wear costumes that are appropriate for skating, and that they wear no masks. |
