Show : 'Charlie's Monument' Musical Now Playing At Provo High "Charlie's Monument," Monume-nt," the new musical drama playing at the Provo High School auditorium Sept. 11 and 13, carries a list of credits that reads like "Who's Who in In-termountain In-termountain Entertainment." En-tertainment." Susan McCloud, who wrote the screenplay for "John Baker's Last Race" and several novels, is joined by Marvin Payne of Alpine on the road-tested and finely funed script. Newell Dayley, Popular composer and new chairman of the ! BYU Music Department, Depart-ment, has crafted the score to Payne's lyrics. ee Winterton choreographed the play with a flair which audiences from Egypt to Utah have come to wpect. Eric Fielding designed the set. John Moran joins the production staff as lighting designer. His art has been seen most recently in "Saturday's Warrior" and "Threads of Glory." "Charlie's Monument" Monume-nt" is presented by Homespun Productions, the company which introduced "The Planemaker." It is directed by James Arlington, well-known for his one-man show, "Here's Brother Brigham," and as the writer-star of the "Farley Family Reunion." Featuring a mature cast, "Charlie's Monument" has Marvin Payne in the title role as the tender, crippled man who overcomes adversity and wins the respect of the 1980's frontier town that cast him out. Rosanna Weeks Ungerman, perennial Sundance Summer Theatre favorite, plays Nellie, whose love and faith restores Charlie's self-esteem and ultimately saves his life. "Charlie's Monument" Monume-nt" recently completed a successful run at BYU Education Week where it moved and delighted thousands. Notable among them was one more from "Who's Who": Blaine Yorgason who wrote the best-selling best-selling book on which the play was based. Tickets are now on sale at the Seventies Mission Book Store in Provo, the Timp Mission Book Store in Orem and at the door. |
