Show Councilman Thompson resigns for sabbatical Lindon City councilman, Dennis Thompson, has turned in his resignation as city councilman in order to go on sabbatical leave to the University of Edinburgh on the southeast coast of Scotland. Thompson will be in that country for the next year doing research and writing a book on the role of private governments. His wife and five of his children will be accompanying the BYU political science professor during his stay there. Thompson has held the office of city councilman since January of 1980. His term was to run until December 1983. The position will be vacant as of noon Sept. 15. The mayor then has 30 days to appoint a new councilman to fill the vacancy with the approval of the remaining councilmen. |
