"We'd maintain the building and ay the utilities," said Welcker. "tn idiiion, we can rent out part of it and !!( .rwalethe expenses."- - - - - ' He suggested the district could immediately move the Young Mother's program into the facility, pins the Alternative High School and fe district printing department . Welcker said they would have (he vplion to withdraw from continued e if they found it too expensive or otherwise unsuitable for the district seeds. Board President Dan Fugal noted that the district does need the additional ad-ditional space the hospital can provide. Board member Ken Whimpey said it would be a logical move to go ahead with the lease agreement "until we can get an idea ofcosts." No estimates are yet available on the cost of heating and lighting the building since it was previously in use 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and would now only be in use part time. Also board members noted that probably the entire building would not be Hi-uie Hi the .same time and would - not have to be completely heated. "This arrangement was suggested to us by the mayor," said Welcker, "We will be able to observe the building's potential for an expanded role, and to share costs." He then asked permission to negotiate for the lease-option. The board was unanimously in favor of the move. |
