Show Alhambra, Great Movies The Alhambra Theatre is showing Great Children's Movies from now until the 23rd of this month. The movies will begin each evening at 6:45 and they will end at 10:00 p.m. From Dec. 13th until the 19th (Tuesday) the movies will be Tom Thumb and Treasure Island. Tom Thumb stars Russ Tamblyn, Terry Thomas and Peter Sellers and is the fairy tale about a boy who is only 5'2 inches high who is given to a woodcutter and his wife who are without children. The woodcutter wood-cutter spares a magic tree so the Fairy Queen gives Tom Thumb to the couple to show her appreciation for his kindness .Treasure Island is Robert Louis Stevenson's classic of adventure. It stars Wallace Beery, Jackie Cooper, Lionel Barrymore and Otto Kruger. In it there are pirates, buried treasure, sailing ships, the open sea, adventure at its finest. For four evenings Wednesday Dec. 20 until Sat. Dec. 23 two more great children's movies "Son of Lassie" and "My Friend Flicka". Son of Lassie is about Laddie who some people think is not a very bright dog but he proves otherwise. It stars Peter Lawford, Donald Crisp, June Lockhart, Lassie and Laddie. My Friend Flicka is the classic story of a boy and his colt. Roddy McDowell, and Preston Foster star as the son and father in this heartwarming story. The matinee on Saturday Dec. 23 at 3:00 p.m. will be My Friend Flicka. Beginning Christmas evening, two great musicals Brigadoon and Carosel. |
