Animal Control Poses Problems in Our Area In Pleasant Grove, as in most other populated areas around the coun-try, we face a growing problem due to in-creasing numbers of stray and uncared for animals. This problem does not stem from the animals themselves, but is a result of irresponsible owner-ship. In an effort to decrease the unwanted and uncared for animal population, the Animal Control Officer has prepared a brief, color-ful, and informative presentation on the topic, "Responsible Pet Ownership.'' This presentation utilizes audio visual aids, as well as live animal demonstrations and can be effectively geared to any age group. This presen-tation would be ap-propriate for church, school, civic groups, etc. The Animal Control Officer would be pleased to discuss this program with any in-terested persons. He may be contacted at the Police Dept., or by calling 785-350- ADAM EMAL Adam Emal Has Eagle Badge Adam Emal, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Emal of Pleasant Grove, got his Eagle badge at a recent court of honor. Sundance Ski School Sundance ski resort has announced the opening of its county-wid- e recreation ski school with classes for beginning through advanced skiers. Everyone seven years and older is invited regardless of skiing ability. Skiers under seven are welcome when accompanied by an adult. The school consists of six lessons and two-wa- y bus transportation to Sundance for six consecutive Saturdays. The cost is $30 for ProvoOrem residents and $35 for all other cities in the county. If participants provide their own tran-sportation, the program is $20. Brent Beck, Sun-dance area manager, says that young children have especially benefited from the resort's past ski schools. "I've seen kids that could scarcely carry their own skis take to the slopes with real confidence after receiving a few lessons. It really gives their self-imag- e a boost when they know they can do it." Beck said that for some reason, children seem particularly susceptible to in-struction. "They have a nack for it," he ex-plained. "Young kids don't have the fears and hang-up- s manyi adults do." Classes will be divided into beginners, snowpiow turn, stem Christie and parallel, and will be further divided according to age. All instructors are expert skiers and especially well qualified to teach young skiers. Participants from Payson, Spanish Fork and Springville will have lessons December 27 and 29, January 6 and 20, and February 3 and 10. Participants from Lehi, American Fork and Pleasant Grove will have lessons December 27 and 29, January 13 and 27, and February 3 and 10.
