Show Battle Creek Camp of uur Met Last Friday Afternoon Delicious refreshments were served by Hostess, Ruby West and co-hostess, Beth Wright to the 12 members present. The regular monthly meeting of the D.U.P. Battle Creek Camp was held Nov. 12th, at 2 p.m. at the home of Ruby H. West on Battle Creek Drive. Captain Beth Wright presided and conducted. Alta Hone offered the invocation. Reports of previously assigned responsibilities were given by committee heads, and business items were discussed. The Song, "In the Sweet By and By" was led by Cleone Langley, with Maymetta Johnson accompaning. Minutes and roll call were given by Sec. Cora O. Bez-zant, Bez-zant, lesson leader Viola Cowley presented an interesting in-teresting lesson on Pioneer Cemeteries, which was very informative and worthwhile. She told of different burial grounds where the pioneers were compelled to bury their dead during their trying times. She also told of Pres. Brigham Youngs private cemetery, located not too far from the Eagle Gate in S.L.C. where he was buried in 1877. Mrs. Eva W. Proctor an outstanding researcher and genealogist was present. She told of her experiences and methods used in compiling records from news paper clippings, and information from other sources, concerning con-cerning people buried in our Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Her aim and desire is to make a permanent "Cemetery Record" for the city of PI. Grove to be preserved and used as needed. Her discussion was heart warming and important. |
