Kazco, forced to play with a patchwork lineup, fell behind 5-0 in the first inning to the hard hitting Carter team. Doug Holley got the big orange scoring machine going with a hard shot up the middle off of Whitey Ratlifs' leg. Bud Nielsen followed with a high bouncing bunt that got by the quick charging third baseman, Paul Schoonover, for a clean single. Dan Nielsen loaded the bases with one of his patended line drives. R.B.I.f or Walker Terry Walker then singled to drive in the first two runs. DAVE NIELSEN Kazco Scores Kazco got one run in the second on Rick Cooks' two strike double followed by a Ratlif single. In the third, Schoonover singled, Jan Christensen worked Bud Nielsen for a rare walk and Gerry Berge doubled to make the score 5-3. Carters Pull Away Carters stretch their lead to 9-3 before Norm Crosby homered with Berge on base to bring Kazcos' total to five. The games final run came on a towering seventh inning home run by Berge, his third of the year. Upset Win Rassmussens upset Dougs, 8-7, after falling bhind early in the game. Trailing 6-0, Rassmussens Jerry Harper hit a fourth inning in-ning homer to start the Rassmussen comeback. Dougs squad closed the score to 8-7 in the final half of the seventh and had the tying run on third base with just one out. A quick throw from TERRY WALKER Nielsen Homers Dave Nielsen raised the Carter Car-ter total to five with a "shot" over the 288 foot sign for a three run homer. |
