Show Plans Are Approved For Pleasant Grove's Senior High Shcool Following recommendations of the Senior High School Advisory Committee, Architect Rowe Smith submitted preliminary plans for a two-story main building at a meeting meet-ing held Thursday, July 19. The meeting was held In the High School Library, under the direction of Principal A. J. Rogers. The plan submitted' by Mr. Smith calls for a two-story Administration Administra-tion and classroom unit with attached at-tached auditorium, Little Theatre, Boys Gym, Girls Gym, and Health Department. Detached units will include School Lunch and Dining Rooms and Shops. After considerable study and discussion, a motion was passed approving the plans as presented. Local basketball enthusiasts will be happy to learn that the 85 x 100 foot Boys Gym and the 56 x 100 foot Girls Gym will each accomodate accom-odate an official size basketball court. The Boys Gym. will seat 2,500 spectators. The auditorium is large enough to seat 800 comfortably com-fortably on one floor. No balcony is planned, which is good from an administrative standpoint Another matter which came in for considerable discussion was the location of the Senior High Seminary Sem-inary Building and the acquiring acquir-ing of a site for the same. Committee Com-mittee members agreed that two important considerations should determine the location of the site purchased by the LDS Church. First, the site should be as near the high school as possible; and second, it should be on the same side of the street to avoid the-necessity the-necessity of students crossing Battle Creek Drive. Those present at the meeting not previously mentioned included Supt. Alma S. Burton, Mayor Edward Ed-ward C. Roberts, President Boyd Fugal, S. A. Kirk, Gerald) Bellis-ton, Bellis-ton, Sherman Varney, Calvin Mills, Hal Haycock, Warnick Swenson. Mrs. D. H. Fowlke, Ertmann Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, Karl Banks and Mrs. Pearl Gourley. |
