Show Berries Lose to Provo in Last Sunday's Game Pleasant Grove's season-long malady, "Failure to hit in the clutches," cost the Berries another game last Sunday. A record-breaking crowd of local partisans watched the Tuckermen hit the ball, get on base and then wilt on the vine when teammates failed to drive them home. The game ended end-ed Provo, 9 and P.G. 5. Ironically enough all this happened hap-pened while the Timps were racking rack-ing up a total of five errors as against none for the Berries. Hits for the game were almost even, 10 for Provo and 9 for Pleasant Grove. Hitters for the locals were Jarman, Haney 2, Paul 2, Pratley, Grant, Hatch and Hunt. Provo's 11 hits included homers by Fox, who hit the first pitch of the game over the fence and by Lewis, later in the game. Morgan opened the game on the mound for Pleasant Grove and yielded 8 runs before he was relieved re-lieved by Peacock with three and one third innings yet to go. Pratley caught the game in the absence of Westover. Stevens went all the way for Provo with Lewis and Ford behind the plate. According to club president Glen Noble, the remainder of the July games for the Berries were listed as follows: Wednesday, July 25, a game was played at Spanish Fork; the results not available at press time; Sunday, July 29, Bingham Bing-ham plays at Pleasant Grove. This game is set for 2:30 p.m. A good crowd is expected, Mr. Noble said. |
